Celebration of Robert Chamberlain & His Works

The community is invited to gather in honor of Robert Chamberlain, a renowned local photographer and artist, who passed away in 2024. Bob donated his collection of Aspen photography to the AHS Collection in 2017 and an additional portion of his vast photographic collection through his estate. Bob documented life in the area since 1958, from hippie culture to modern-day ski racing, artfully capturing the pulse of the community for decades. His first published work graced the cover of SKI Magazine Annual in 1962 and he was a frequent contributor to many local and regional publications. “More than 400 of Bob’s best-known images are now part of the Aspen Historical Society Collection, but he left hundreds of unmounted prints, most of them hand-printed at his old darkroom at 420 West Francis Street, that his family would like to share with the community,” said Bob’s nephew, Rob. “Come join family members for a celebration of Bob’s life and work, and a chance to take home some original Chamberlain photos. Small donations to the Historical Society are welcome, but the main thing is to see them go to good homes!”
