History Hike: Hunter Creek Valley
Adventure over the creek and through the woods on a guided hike up to the Hunter Creek Valley above Aspen! We’ll hike the popular Hunter Creek trail while hearing stories of one of Aspen’s closest mining-era “camps” and learning about the recent preservation efforts by the Hunter Creek Historical Foundation to stabilize the area’s historical buildings. Turn back from there, or make it a longer hike with the option to continue to the Hunter Creek dam site, which was a crucial source of power for Aspen’s early mining industry and electric company.
Meet at the BLM parking lot off Hunter Creek Rd.
This moderate hike takes place on steep dirt and gravel trails along Hunter Creek
