Be the Reason Public Lands Stay Wild

Aspen Historical Society is part of the Public Land and Water Forum (PLAWF), a coalition of Roaring Fork Valley agencies and nonprofits formed to support public lands in response to federal reductions in funding and staffing. PLAWF is working to protect our public lands and waters through education, advocacy, and stewardship—ensuring these vital resources remain healthy, accessible, and a public asset for generations to come. The hope is to temporarily bridge gaps and help mitigate the immediate impacts, but it’s on all of us to act now to protect public lands. Land Acknowledgement
We gratefully acknowledge we gather on the land of the Uncompahgre band of the Ute Nation, or Nuche, past and present. We honor this land and the people who lived in harmony with the natural world for generations before their forced removal. We are committed to sharing the complete history of the land, recognizing and partnering with Native Peoples, and supporting the advancement of Native places and heritage. This calls us all to be better stewards of the land we inhabit and the natural resources we benefit from today.
