Hotel Jerome History Tour

ABOUT THE TOUR
Originates at Hotel Jerome, 330 E. Main St.

Aspen’s iconic Hotel Jerome has been at the center of Aspen life since the doors opened in 1889. Join us in the lobby of the Hotel Jerome to find out how and why.

DETAILS
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1:30 p.m. through mid-April

Historic Pub Crawl

ABOUT THE TOUR
Take a guided tour of Aspen’s historic haunts, where you’ll learn about the establishment’s history and hear local lore. Tour meets at the Red Onion, continues to Justice Snow’s, Aspen Brewing Co. and the J-Bar. Space is limited, reservations required.

DETAILS
Schedule: Thursdays, 3:30-4:30 p.m. through mid-April
Cost: $20, includes short drink at each stop. Reservations must be made by calling (970)925-3721.

Wheeler Opera House History Tour

ABOUT THE TOUR
The center of Aspen’s arts and cultural scene since it was built in 1889, the Wheeler Opera House has stood the test of time. Take a free tour with Aspen Historical Society guides to get an insider’s look at the Wheeler, including its recent renovations, and hear about its storied past.

Ski History Tours on Aspen & Aspen Highlands

ABOUT THE TOUR

  • Aspen Highlands: With an emphasis on Highlands’ “Maverick” reputation—the ‘70s ski culture and the birth of freestyle skiing given by longtime local and Aspen Historical Society volunteer docent Jane Click. Meets at mid-mountain ambassador hut.
  • Aspen Mountain: With an emphasis on the mining era and the early days of skiing in Aspen given by fifth-generation Aspenite Tony Vagneur. Meet him at the Guest Service Hut on the top of the mountain.

Holden/Marolt Mining and Ranching Museum

ABOUT  THE TOUR
Marolt Open Space (across the pedestrian bridge at 7th Street)

Leap back to the late 1800s when Aspen was the nation’s leading silver producer with equipment and displays of the many facets of the industrial age of mining. Also learn about the agricultural period or “Quiet Years,” all housed in the original “barn” that served both the mining and the Marolt family ranch.

History Coach

ABOUT THE TOUR
Originates at the Wheeler Opera House, 320 E. Hyman Ave.

A guided tour of historic downtown Aspen in our unique electric vehicle – complete with a visit to both the Wheeler/Stallard Museum and the Holden/Marolt Mining and Ranching Museum. Guests gain a totally new understanding of Aspen’s transformations from a mining town to ski town to year-round, world class resort!

West End Walking Tour
